A brief comparison of the book and movie : Pride & Prejudice

Note: This is completely based on my personal opinion after reading the book twice and watching the movie thrice. 


Owing to the drastic end of creativity in the 21st century, many directors, screen writers who wanted to proclaim their uniqueness in having a good story have found comfort in the arms of books. Be it be classics or crime thrillers or autobiographies' books have come to their rescue.

Recently I've read a classic called 'PRIDE AND PREJUDICE' by Jane Austen. The romance ,the witty banter, the high society....it has it all. This book is highly treasured by the society although it is not relatable to everyone in this century(but those looking for something different ,do give it a read!!), it does do justice in explaining lives in Austin's times. 

Now let's talk about the movie which was made based on this novel. The movie had Keira Knightley playing the role of our protagonist, she has given a perfect flawless performance. The thing with movies is that, they murder your imagination to an extent, once you see Keira Knightley playing Ms. Bennnet  you're entitled to see her like that, whereas if you would have not watched the movie...Ms. Bennet could've been anyone, a girl you've seen on the street or anybody else.  Mr. Darcy played by Mathew mcfayden had also done a great job playing the shy, socially awkward elite. Every  actor in the movie was casted well and had done a commendable job.

Reading is travelling in time, the author takes you into the hearts and heads of those characters, you almost feel what they're feeling. I personally feel, none of us were able to understand Mrs. Bennet's plight and her apprehension. The movie has also failed to show the character development and depth that Jane Austen has described in her novel. The book elucidates perfectly how Elizabeth undergoes the transition of emotions.  This could only have been achieved if the movie was 6 hours long instead of 2 hours. 

But as a whole, Pride and Prejudice is a simple and beautiful story set up in 18th century Britain. Reading the book first would probably put your standards for the movie high, but it's worth a watch.

How the pandemic has taken a toll on children

The evening sky was lovely, the birds were chirping and cold breeze was blowing.  I had gone out for a walk.  I came across a little girl who was taking a stroll with her mom. I waved my hand from afar. The little girl's face became pale, her mom waved back but the girl looked like she had just seen a ghost in bright daylight. It ends with us

 I was so glad that this book ended.  Naked truth - I did not like it. *spoilers ahead* As you all know, I've been trying for a long time to start experimenting with new genres and this book was it. I took 2 days to finish this book, no it was not because it was that exciting but  I so badly wanted it to end. From a neutral point of view, I would say it's a decent read, the diary entries got a little boring but that part contributes to Lily's character development. The only part that I liked in this book is Lily not being a spineless fool and leaving Ryle. What would be the difference between her and her mother(whom she resented for most of her life) if she hadn't left Ryle?  Personally, I feel like Lily should've been showcased as a strong, independent woman towards the end instead of ending up with Atlas(the homeless kid whom her teenage self fell in love with, who is apparently wealthy now).
